IST Classroom Collaboration Team have deployed receivers into all Smart classrooms on campus. The frequency in each classroom has been set and this frequency will be posted at the front of each room so that students can set their remotes to the correct frequency before class begins. The frequencies for each Smart classroom can be viewed at https://ist.ualberta.ca/services/learning-management/iclickers#question_5.
Due to the design of the receiver with its antenna and USB port connection, it was decided for security and consistent operability to have it housed in the racks with the computers. This means that an instructor will need to use a USB stick containing the iclicker software and lecture presentation files. It is not possible at this time to attach the receiver to a laptop, nor view the display. This is a cost effective way to ensure that all Smart classrooms are set up for the use of iclicker for fall 2008. We suggest that Faculties wanting to provide enhanced support for instructors, purchase additional receivers to loan to those instructors needing to connect to a laptop.
If you are experiencing difficulty with the hardware in a SMART classroom, please consult IST Smart Room directory to obtain assistance.

The Bookstore will handle the return of defective remotes. The student will receive a replacement immediately from the Bookstore.
